I Graduated, Now What?
Why Taking The Next Step Is Increasingly Harder For Graduates Today
With diploma in hand, Sarah hugged her family after the brunch celebration and walked to her car. She was exhausted from the long day’s ceremonies and events, but much more so from answering the barrage of questions about what she was doing next.
“You are an adult now Sarah! How exciting!” her sweet grandmother said.
“What are you going to do with your life Sarah?” said her abrasively, intrusive uncle.
“You’ve worked so hard Sarah, it’s time to go Lean In and be somebody!” said her corporate-leaning aunt.
Everyone was well-meaning, but it was really just well, annoying. She gave lofty answers ranging from considering highly regarded potential employers to possibly taking the GMAT and continuing her studies.
The choices should be limitless in a booming economy with purportedly more jobs than warm bodies to fill them, yet truth be told, she did not have a clue what she wanted to do. In a generation where finding your purpose was all the buzz, she sat in her car feeling paralyzed and as purposeless as the discarded gum wrapper in her cup holder.
This “Now what?” scenario is increasingly the dilemma for many graduates today. While some have a job offer and start date in hand, many are toggling between finding a “real” job or taking another summer to find themselves.
LeaderCorps is the “Now what?” answer. We will help you figure out who you are beyond the degree. The diploma proves one has the perseverance to endure structure, evaluation, and memory recall. It does not, however, clearly identify your unique interests, strengths, and skills that are the essential tools needed to pursue this meaningful and impactful path you seek.
So yes, it’s time to Lean In,…into You. Stop recoiling at the thought of being forced into a soulless career like your parents and more importantly stop wallowing in fearful indecision. Actively explore what makes you tick now and we will guide you into the future you want.
Let’s get started!
